Deck the halls with boughs of… Gold? Move over, holly, because there’s a new Christmas décor about to take over and it’s all the craze for people with millions to spare. In 2012, a jewelry store in downtown Tokyo decided to show its Christmas spirit the only way it knew how – by creating a tree made purely of gold. At 8-feet or 2.4-meters high and 3-feet or 1-meter in diameter, this golden Christmas tribute cost $4.2 million to produce. Nothing says “Spirit of Christmas” like a gaudy tree decorated in gold-plated silhouette cutouts of 50 Disney characters.
